I updated to Firefox 5.0 & lost my Google Toolbar & now find out it is not compatible w/Firefox 5.0. I want to go back to the previous Firefox so my Google Toolbar will return.

How do I do it?

As this is not the 1st time this has happened w/a Firefox update - WHY AREN'T WE NOTIFIED BEFORE WE UPDATE THAT WE WILL LOSE SOME INFORMATION????? I will NEVER update Firefox again unless I know that it is compatible w/Google.

Google has stated that there will be no update to the Google Toolbar beyond Firefox 4.0. Since Firefox 4.0 is not supported any longer the support for obsolete software is pretty meaningless. Whether you agree with Google or not, you will have to find alternative solutions, which you can start working on now.

Google never did have a Google Toolbar in their own Google Chrome, it is built-in to Google or Google has features supporting it. Google also stated that Firefox users already have support for the features in Firefox (that includes extensions by others).

The nice thing about Firefox is that you usually have a lot of extensions that can simply be replaced by other extensions. It is likely that the solutions you chose will in total be smaller than the footprint that Google Toolbars occupied, if you try for mostly built-in Firefox solutions.

For advanced warning there is the extension

The Google Toolbar is no longer supported by Google in Firefox 5 and up, you may be able to get what you want from it for a limited time, the directions to install the Google Toolbar were posted before Google actually announced dropping support.

In any case you can find several alternative solutions, and you can start working on them now, see

If this solves your problem then mark as solved, if there is an aspect that is not covered directly or through searching extensions on that page, or other searching that you can try, please indicate what is not covered and describe what it does and we will try to help you with a Firefox solution. Don't expect to see anything that is an exact replacement of a Google Toolbar feature. Likewise if you have additional solutions not covered others would likely want to hear about them.

I previously saw a reply to a problem, saying we should "disable" the toolbar. Well, I don't want to, & with ALL the problems here, I'd by far prefer to return to the Firefox I had before I updated to 10.0. Unfortunately, I don't remember which one it was, so I could UNINSTALL 10.0.

The bottom line is that I've lost so much, I'm unable to connect with websites..or if I am..I can get my page, but nothing is in it, when I click a ff alert from my email, it does not connect.........so....what's the use of it?

Would you believe when I tried to use "bold," (above), quotation marks were added to my text?

Just one more irritant. In all other circumstances, when I'm asked to browse for an image, it means the AVATAR, not my photo stuck like a stamp at the bottom of my post.

Good grief
