When I click on a search result, e.g., NY Times, I don't go directly to the NY Times site. I am taken to another search site. Why?
Example: I type NY Times for a search. The Google search results list several options, the first two which show the official NY Times address (www.nytimes.com). When I click on one, I am taken to http://www.blinkx.com/ce/KtDc-iAf00ukPCBg-FYnzxx6YYXdpgB2F-L_v1tBj7hLLKlpeh_2J-JCI86OM0JbaX8ahisSWkU?adid=02-100-201-300-404-25&affiliate=77491-18254. Why is this happening?
When I searched Mozilla Firefox, the same happens. If I click on www.mozilla.com (I know, not you), I am taken to http://www.firefox.io/index3a.php
If I click on www.mozilla.org (which I assume is you), I am taken to http://www.informationgetter.com/results1.aspx?keywords=mozilla+firefox
How can I avoid this? Or is this something that I have to live with? Any assistance will be appreciated.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
