I guess I got a virus when I stupidly printed an email - the one about having won some over seas lottery. The computer started slowing down shortly thereafter. Tried to install an advertised program 'to speed things up'. It was then that something called "search.conduit.com/?CT3030540&SearchSource=13" and "bing" hijacked me. Somehow I fumbled around and got rid of search conduit, then I had to redo getting the computer connected to the web. Now if I go to Firefox , the entire horizontal strip that should appear near the top of screen -just under the name Firefox in the upper left- does NOT come on! I've nowhere to type in an adress.

Have you made sure Firefox is set for displaying the navigation toolbar.

  • Use Firefox Button -> Options -> [] Navigation toolbar

You could still have malware installed, or at least some sort of unintended search assisting feature or toolbar. Try to check you do not have unintended plugins installed, that may be removable by use of the Windows 7 OS.
