Using f6.02. f still has my saved username/passwords. I can see them, but it refuses to use them and acts like it has never seen all the sites i normally visit. Anyone know how to fix this? Yes, it still prompts me do i want to save the password as if it does know it already has it.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thank you for your time and insight. Firefox was not in Permanent Private Browsing mode nor had I made any changes to my list of add-ons. The problem persisted for the better part of a day and continued through warm and cold boots. A virus scan showed nothing. Today it is working as expected, i.e. Firefox supplies usernames and passwords appropriately.

I am tempted to consign the problem to the vagaries of Windows 7 64-bit or the adage "Sh*t Happens". Whatever it is, it's not the way I want my browser to operate. :-)
