Firefox will not save my selected option to remember passwords. This is occurring after a new install (6.02) on Windows 7 but importing my profile files from another Windows 7 machine (6.02). (The previous profile successfully saved passwords.)

Under Options > Security, I click on "Remember passwords for sites" and close the panel--but whenever I return to this setting, the option is unclicked. This happens within an open session after moving between sites, not just for new sessions. I cleared out all exceptions, and "Permanent browsing history" and "clear history" are definitely unchecked in history management settings.

My prior password info is all there and saved in the password manager, I'm just unable to get Firefox to enable using saved passwords or storing my selection to save passwords.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Ooh! Cor-el, you have solved my issue! It was either some bundled "protection suite" extension or a Norton Anti-virus web extension that was causing this issue. Disabling both from safe mode and restarting FF, all now works great with the password memory issue.

Thanks so much!
