This used to happen once in a while, but lately this seems to be happening more often.

When browsing the internet Firefox seems to have trouble loading websites correctly. It will appear as though only half of the website has loaded. For example the background color or image will be missing, some or all of the images might have failed to load. Typically the text will be there, but it's clear that there is a problem with the formatting. Most of the features typically laid out across the top of the screen will instead be listed on the left hand side of the screen, so much of it that it will take several scrolls to get down to the actual text of the article.

This seems to happen randomly and can be corrected by immediately refreshing the page. It's not a huge deal, but as it's becoming more common it is becoming a bigger frustration. Any suggestions?

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.

Try to decrease the value of the pref network.http.max-connections from 255 to a setting like 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

Thank you very much. I have changed the setting and now I'm excited to see if that improves things. Now I'll spend the next few days anxiously waiting to see if it still crops up. I really appreciate the help.

Well it made it a few days, but the problem has returned. MSNBC specifically seems to be a particularly bad site. I had issues with it before and it was the second site I had issues with today.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

After a few days of running Firefox in Safe Mode with the default theme back on I ran into the same issue a few minutes ago.

This might be relevant. I have been browsing several times a day and this was the first time I ran into the issue. So for two days with regular browsing I had no issues, and just now I had the issue on not just one but three separate sites within a 30 minute span. Is it possible it's a problem with my ISP? I would doubt that as we've moved recently and I've had this issue both before the move and after. Different states but the same ISP (Comcast). And add Netflix to the sites that seem to have issues more often than others.
