Macbook running OS X 10.6.8. Deleting a bookmark does not work either from the URL bar or from the "show all Bookmarks" Menu. The places.sqlite file is not "locked". How do I fix it?
The Macbook has two accounts, one for me and one for my wife. Firefox in my account operates correctly in that bookmarks can be deleted. the problem is with Firefox in my wife's account

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
