I have windows xp home and Firefox v7. I updated to v8 and now firefox won't open no matter what, even in safe mode. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried rolling my computer back to an earlier date. This did not work. Even after uninstalling and rolling my computer back wich gave me the earlier version 7, it still crashes right away.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

I Cannot open a new profile. It just immediatly shows the crash report message just like when trying to open firefox. I had tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling firefox fresh without my plugins and preferences and it didn't help. Firefox was fine until I updated to version 8. Now no version will work. I tried rolling back my computer to an earlier date and installing firefox, no change. It has something to do with the update and maybe a change in the registry?

Try rebooting the computer as this solves a lot of this type of crashing.
