详细了解

I just upgraded to v3.6.26 (from v3.6.24 or 25) now Firefox does not open at all - no error, no nothing.

I chose 'restart Firefox' after the upgrade, but it didn't open. I tried double-clicking on the desktop icon, then Start -> Firefox, but absolutely nothing happens. There was something on the upgrade page which I didn't read ( ! ) about Firefox not opening after this upgrade when certain files were missing. Any diagnostic help appreciated.

I would suggest updating to the latest version of Firefox which is actually 9. The version you are using is minimally supported & the only supported alternative to the latest current version.

Warning: Firefox 3.6 will only be maintained with security and stability updates for a short period of time. Please download and install the latest version of Firefox from [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/]

See the following & note the prominent warning regarding upgrading to the latest version regarding the current version you have installed.

Update Firefox to the latest release

Thanks for the quick reply, but that didn't work. I went to my Norton 2009/2010 settings as per the instructions, and removed Firefox, and re-added it, and it still doesn't open. (I got a message saying 'you're trying to add a program that already has rules'.)

I went back to v3.6.x after initially upgrading to v4 and had so many problems I un-installed and went back to the previous version (internet searching revealed that everyone who had my problems had done the same). The latest versions of Firefox also have myriad problems. I just want it to work! And v3.6.24 DID work. But now, I have no Firefox at all.  :-(
