When i download a file, for some files I can check the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on"

But NOT for all - sometimes that option is disabled.

How do I enabled it?

  • SIGH* - the same damn incompetent excuse for almost 10 years now (I know its not your fault).
  • I* the user should be able set the option that I always want to save "extension x" regardless of what some random idiot website says - sad those programmer fools don't get that.

In previous versions it was possible to override this incompetent design by manually editing the mine config file, I hope they haven't prevented that in an attempt to harass the users even further.

That choice is only available if the server sends such a file with a specific MIME type.
If the MIME type is missing or it is send with a generic MIME type like application/octet-stream or as a content disposition then that choice id disabled.

Firefox still uses the same mimeTypes.rdf file that previous Firefox versions use(d), so if you've edited that file in the paste then try to do it in the current Firefox version the same way.
Otherwise you need to find a site that sends such a file with a supported MIME type to let Firefox create a download action.
