links no longer clickable in emails can't find where to change setting
I changed a Firefox setting several months ago that no longer allows me to click and open the link in on that tab. I now have to right click and open link in a new tab. I cannot find anywhere to change the setting back. I find no settings for links. Where can I change the setting back so that I can click and open links without going to another tab?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Follow the instructions in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to restart in Firefox Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode. Do links in e-mails work when you run in Safe Mode?
- If they do, turn off hardware acceleration, switch to the default theme, and disable your Extensions in the Add-ons manager (test after each one, to see if that solves it).
- If links in e-mails still don't work in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode, start with Reset Firefox preferences to troubleshoot and fix problems.

I'm going to try to get this done. How do I start in safe mode?
In Firefox 4+ versions you can use one of these to start in Safe mode:
- Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
- On Mac, hold down the Options key while startin Firefox

Ok, I'm in safe mode start up and links DO work in this mode. Going to next step.
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
- Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
- Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
Update:the "use hardware acceleration when available" line was NOT checked when I looked at that. I switched to the default theme. When I'm looking at the Extensions under ad ons mgr tab, the only ad ons I have are- Adblock Plus 2.0.3 and Adblock Plus Pop-Up 0.3. I looked at each of those and nothing pertaining to links there. REMINDER: Links became unclickable in their original window only after I choose that option somewhere (I wish I could remember). Is it possible that that option was provided in my AVG settings and not Firefox?
Will try disabling each of those one at a time.
Disabling both Adblock Plus and Adblock Plus PopUp allowed links to open in original window. Enabling Adblock Plus disallowed links to open in original window. Disabled Adblock Plus and enabled Adblock Plus PopUp and links open in original windows again. I don't see any settings pertaining to links when I look at the page that comes up for more info on Adblock Plus nor are there any updates. I see no place else to check for settings for Adblock Plus. Is there anywhere to check for all settings for Adblock Plus or what is my next step?
Afterthought: Does Adblock Plus PopUp have everything that Adblock Plus has, so that I could just disable Adblock Plus and keep Adblock Plus PopUp?

Is there any more help available now that it seems the problem lies in Adblock Plus????????
You can try to ask advice at the Adblock Plus forum if there are problems with the ABP extension.
