How do I get Firefox to recognize the .st file extension?

more options

I've downloaded and installed StreamTorrent in order to watch streaming content. However, when I click on an .st link, Firefox doesn't recognize what to do with the .st extension. I did a little research and discovered that I need to download an .st file, and Firefox will automatically add that file extension to its applications menu. I can then associate that .st extension with the StreamTorrent program already installed. My problem is this: I can't find any .st "files" to download, since as far as I know the .st extension exists to run streaming content. The only .st links I can find on the web cause Firefox to tell me that it doesn't know what to do with .st extensions. Which brings me back to the beginning. Please help.

Check the URL that doesn't work.

If it is an http:// URL:

When a web server sends Firefox a file, it includes a content-type header. This is what Firefox uses to determine how to handle the file, not the file extension. The server might be sending a generic download type such as "application/octet-stream" which you cannot assign to any one application. That's just a guess because I don't use that software.

If it is an st:// URL:

Firefox will check the Windows registry for novel protocols. This article has more information: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Register_protocol
