frequent need to "netsh winsock reset" to restore internet connection
after 1+/- day browsing - what appears to be a DNS loss occurs requiring "netsh winsock reset" and laptop restart to connect to websites - I have seen messages linking this failure to recent ADOBE plug-ins - any advice??? THANK YOU!!!

Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:
- Clear Cookies & Cache
- Clear the Network Cache
- Make sure that you are using the "Remember History" setting as described in this article -> Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track
- Start Firefox in -> Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if your add-ons/extension are causing the problems.
- Also see this article -> Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems
Check and tell if its working.
per above: did not seem to work - is it possible this problem is linked to 'proxy' settings? if so - which do you suggest: "no" / "auto-detect" / "system" ? thanks for any assistance or other reports of similar problems !
Try all 3 settings and check which finally works.
- See this article -> Advanced panel - Accessibility, browsing, network, updates, and other advanced settings in Firefox
Check and tell which setting works.
On Windows XP it is probably best to select the "No proxy" setting instead of the default "Use the system proxy settings".
See "Firefox connection settings":
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND REPLIES - It turns out the problem was due to MCAFEE ANTI-VIRUS PLUS - it was remedied WITHOUT closing FireFox or REBOOTING by resetting Mcafee FIREWALL 'security access' which was denying internet access to FireFox and other apps for reasons unknown? Again, Thank You All for your kind efforts!
