So the problem is that Vuze is not working correctly? Or that the Vuze toolbar is not working correctly? Or that sites which require the Java runtime are not working correctly? Or all three?

I have attached a screenshot of the testjava page. The applet takes about 20 seconds to load on a 5-year-old laptop. Is your display similar?

Please note that Java is not used much on the web these days. If you see any errors involving JavaScript, that is interpreted natively by Firefox and does not use the Java runtime.

JAVA: I have not been able to get the Test to run to conclusion. I have let it run for 5 minutes and no results, then it fails and an error exists. Been trying to get it to work to see if there is a Java, Firefox, or Firewall problem.

As for Vuze I have not gotten that program to work since I updated it yesterday, and even after a complete reinstall. I am trying to eliminate Java as the source of Vuze software problems. I will pursue this on the Vuze forum.

I am mostly concerned that I couldn't get the Java test to run and work on Firefox. (Just tried it on IE and couldn't get the Java test to work either). I don't know how serious this is, or if I should not bother worrying about it.

So I can see a discrepancy between my 10.5.0 and your 10.5.1 And I have no Idea why since I just finished deleting and installing the most recent version from Java.com

I have decided that Java must be working. I just updated to Java 10.6 and seems to be working. Though i'm unable to test properly. I will just wait till something comes up.

All the problems I have been having with Firefox seemed to relate to my Flash Player, which I have completely uninstalled. Now Firefox is working fine, a little slow, but no bugs yet.

I will have to browse to find a solution to Flash Player plugin.

I have been reading Firefox help files and they discuss Java plugins, and missing plugins. Even though my java plugin in enabled it does not appear to be at this location?

What should it be called? And if it is missing where can i find it?

Oh wait I ran a Microsoft security scan mert and it found and deleted a couple java files but I can't remember where they were or what they were called. (this was a couple of weeks ago)

I checked to see if java was working at Java.com per your link and got this error message;

Ignored Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: testJava2_1.TestVMApplet.class

Check, anti-virus and firewall programs if blocked java from there. Disable anti-virus and firewall to see if this solve the issue, if yes create an exception.

I have already thought of that, and believe that should not be the problem. I have added JAVA to my list of programs to allow through the firewall. I have F-Secure anti-virus.

But I will check that out again. One problem is that from the list of JAVA programs i'm not sure which ones I should make an exception for?

New Java flaw could hit 1 billion users

A new Java vulnerability has surfaced that apparently affects all Java runtimes and therefore puts close to a billion users at risk.

Security research company Security Explorations has issued a description of a new critical security flaw in Java SE 5 build 1.5.0_22-b03, Java SE 6 build 1.6.0_35-b10, and the latest Java SE 7 build 1.7.0_07-b10.
