hello yemiteliyadu, improvements to the new tab page will land in firefox 17 - then it willbe possible to change the number of thumbnails via the preferences browser.newtabpage.rows & browser.newtabpage.columns.
if you want, you can already test in in the current aurora build: www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/#aurora
