I used to have a number of icons at the bottom of my browser page such as Adobe Browser Lab, Downloadhelper. However the bar at the bottom of the page which is activated by clicking on Tools/Web Developer/Developer Toolbar has hidden them and even when I untick Developer Toolbar they do not reappear.

I have tried removing Web Developer as I assumed that was the culprit but that bar remains.

Can anyone help me find my icons again please?

Thanks ideato but I have done that and the bar remains at the bottom. I am thinking that this musn't come from Web Developer but from somewhere else. And as I said even when I untick that toolbar my icons still don't reappear!

I am totally befuzzled by this one.

You can try to delete it form theProfile folder ,

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

inside the extensions folder, it is an xpi file but i do not known the specific number/name of that extension !

thanks again

Do you have the Add-ons toolbar visible?

  • View > Toolbars
  • Firefox > Options

Does the developer toolbar still show if you remove the check mark in the Web Developer menu?

Various Web Developer tools each have their own pref on the about:config page to enable or disable them.
You can search for devtools.*.enabled via the Search bar at the top of the about:config page.

  • devtools.toolbar.enabled
  • devtools.toolbar.visible

After all my fiddling the status bar returned and then I found that my add-on bar wasn't ticked. Something made the difference - I don't know what - but thanks to both of you.
