Hi, I have been using Mozilla Firefox for years (currently Firefox 17.0.1) , but lately the convenient (sidebar) option to search the web or pages from New Zealand disappeared.

I can click on 'Search tools' - 'The web' - 'Pages from New Zealand' (and do the same again when I want to search the web), however this is definitely not user friendly.

Is there a way of getting back the one click option choosing between web search or local search?

Thanks!

I think you have just gotten the updated layout that Google started rolling out last month: http://insidesearch.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/spiffing-up-your-search-results-page.html

People have been publishing methods for reverting the layout, which mostly involve replacing some of Google style rules with new (old) ones. For example (I haven't tried it myself):

Greasemonkey userscript: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/152796
