Had to reset but now files are lost and won't open
I was prompted this morning with wanting/needing to reset Firefox - something I never have never seen before. It was going thru my "old data" and froze. I needed to restart my iMac and in doing so now I can't open Firefox because it says: "Firefox cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." I have the folder of my "Old Firefox Data" on my desktop. Have I lost everything? How do I get this back?

go to ~/Library folder (it is a hidden folder for your 10.8 mac, it is hidden for 10.7 and later mac) from :
Go > Go To Folder (Shift-Command-G) and in the dialog type: ~/Library
or
Open the "Go" menu and hold down the Option key to make the Library appear
then find profiles.ini file and rename it to profiles.iniOLD , then when you start firefox again, a new default profile folder will be created and only a single profile, the new "default", will be listed in the Profile Manager.
This new "default" profile doesn't contain any of the profile data or settings stored in your old "default" profile folder, which still exists but is no longer accessible from the Profile Manager.
Your existing Firefox user profile data, which includes bookmarks, passwords, cookies, preference settings and added extensions, will no longer appear in the new profile but you can transfer the data from the old profile folder to the new default profile folder.
