password manager seems not working without a username since firefix 18.0.2, how can it work ?

using firefox 18.0.1 password manager was able to fill out a saved password of a local web site, without having an username. username does not exist at this site. now, since firefox 18.0.2 it does not work anymore. A test with another site, which prompts for a username and password, the password manager of firefox 18.0.2. still works fine. How can it still work if a username does not exist ?
