To start off with, I do not have the yahoo tool bar or any trances of Yahoo in add-on or extensions. I can't even find any trance of Yahoo anywhere on my computer, none. BUT for some strange reason even after I delete Yahoo from the Searchplugins Folder it keeps reappearing a couple days later. The thing that is annoying about this is when ever I try to use ANY other search in the Search Engines box it changes to Yahoo. It won't let me use any of my other search engines till I delete it from the Searchplugins Folder. But like I said, it just keeps reappearing a couple days later. I seriously have no idea what is going on ;_;

Yahoo is included in the Search Engine list in Firefox, like Google, Bing, Amazon, etc.

Ok, but that doesn't tell me why it isn't allowing me to use my other search engines (when I click on another search engine it just changes back to yahoo instantly) OR why it keeps appearing in my searchplugins folder every couple of days.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
