When I try to search the web, all I get is Twitter. WHY?!

I use Firefox as my home page, and do most of my web searching from that page. But suddenly, every search takes me to Twitter instead of to web links. Why? It's driving me crazy, and I'm about ready to go back to Yahoo for web searches.

in firefox 23 the search options for the homepage/address-bar got consolidated with the search bar - so the search engine that is selected in the search bar will now also be used when you enter a term into the firefox default homepage...
