After reordering or deleting search engines, I click "OK" but the "manage search engines" page won't go away.

I noticed that in the search bar, my list of search engines was somehow reordered. So, I clicked on "manage search engines" and used "move up" and "move down" to put them back in the proper order. I then clicked "OK" and there was no response. The "manage search engines" page still remained. All I can do is click "Cancel", the ESC key or the red x at the upper right of the window. But when I do that, none of my changes was saved. How can this be fixed?

Try to delete the search.json file and possible search-metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to reset the search engines to the default.

Firefox will rebuild the search.json file from the default search engines in the "browser\searchplugins" folder in the Firefox program folder and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.

I have the same issues. So far I tried deleting search.json & formhistory.sqlite but no change.

By chance I stumbled over a method to get around the issue. I can move my search engines once before I can exit the window via OK button. I have to click the button twice though to get out.

On a related matter I noticed there is a search engines under the defaults I'd like to get rid of. Where are the default engines stored and how can I modify the file.
