Sync won't set up for me

I had problems and lost access to my sync account, so I tried setting up a new one. I filled in an email and a password, and it succeeded in making my account, but instead of syncing, it says "incorrect account name or password" in the sync tab of the options menu. And in the actual firefox window it has a bar at the bottom that says "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Incorrect account name or password. Sync will automatically retry this action." This is immediately afterwards. I am not logging in and out or anything, this is the first thing it tells me after setting up my account, and never does the initial sync. I've tried re-inputting the password (that I just made) but it won't work.

I've tried everything. I've tried seeing if there was an option on the firefox sync account webpage thing, but there wasn't. I've looked through all the troubleshooting but couldn't find anything. I've deleted my account and recreated it. I've unlinked the account and tried remaking it with different new email addresses I've had, but nothing works. I've even uninstalled firefox and deleted any leftover files that were there, and reinstalled it, and then tried making another completely new account with a new email address and it still gives me this result of saying I have "incorrect account name or password" right after I make my account.

When I'm making the account it doesn't tell me that the email address is in use (which it wouldn't be, considering I've just used old email accounts that are my own) and it tells me the passwords match, and gives me no troubles setting up the account. I can log into the accounts I made into the sync account webpage easily, and the passwords and emails seem to be correct there.

hello curriedbrains, unfortunately there are currently authentication issues with the sync server - the admins are investigating this issue. maybe keep an eye on this thread to get updates when sync is restored to working order again: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/966368
