I recently had Windows Vista Home crash on my desktop machine. I had my tech clone my drive, and reinstall my operating system. My machine is now working. I reinstalled Firefox. However, I can not sync anything.

Prior to my operating system crash, I used Firefox and was able to sync to two separate Android based devices (Samsung Galaxy S3 and ASUS Memo Pad FHD 10) with no problems. Bookmarks would sink, as well as everything else...both from my desktop to the Android devices and back again. However, after reinstalling Firefox, now I am unable to sync anything back to my desktop. I am hoping to use Firefox sync to restore all of my bookmarks/passwords/settings/etc from one of my Android devices.

I have searched the support forums for about three hours now with no results. I attempted to 'link' the desktop to my ASUS pad to sync with it to no avail. Currently, everything is linked, but nothing is being synced to my desktop machine.

Is there a way to do what I want to do? Both my Samsung and the ASUS have virtual copies of all of my data from Firefox that originally synced...PRIOR to the crash. All I want to do is get it back.

You can connect that desktop to your Sync account by using the Pairing Code from one of your mobile devices.

Already did that. It didn't work. In fact, I tried this with both devices. Neither worked. There is no 'syncing' going on from the Android devices to my desktop machine.

I wish Mozilla had a way to simply download my synced data with a log in. This is incredibly frustrating.

Aaaaaannnnnd...another flop.

I tried to unlink one of my Android devices from sync to the desk top and re-added it as if I was linking them from the desktop for the first time.

Another failure. No sync. Does anyone have a solution to this? This can't be that complicated.

To clear up what may be a misunderstanding you have about Sync; Sync works between each device and the Mozilla Sync server, there is no direct connection between devices. ("devices" includes desktop / laptop PC's)

You should be able to connect that desktop PC to the Sync server, to Sync your data to the desktop PC, using the Pairing code that you get from either mobile device (smart phone or tablet device) using that Pairing code in the Pair A Device window when you set up Sync on the desktop PC. That Pairing Code takes the place or your username, your password, AND the Recovery Key.

As far as the "simple way", did you save the Recovery Code from the desktop PC before you had the hard drive wiped?

Or did you have the tech back up your Firefox Profile, where all your Firefox personal data is stored?
