firefox reopening tab from previous session from cache instead of looking for latest version of page

My FF setting for "When Firefox starts" is "Show windows and tabs from last time".

When I start a new session and I click on any of my tabs they almost invariably open to whatever state they were at when I closed my browser at the end of the previous session instead of finding an updated version of the webpage.

Of course, hitting Refresh will bring up the latest version of any given web page, but shouldn't Firefox be looking out to find me the freshest version automatically ? I haven't found a setting which will permit this. Can someone let me know if I'm missing something here ?

Hi Leib, Thank you for your question, I cannot reproduce this. I opened up a web console, selected the option for remember my tabs from last time, then restarted Firefox. Each window was requested.

In tabs do you have "load tabs when selected" checked? This does increase startup time, but I am not sure if this would affect it.

In a cache, there is something in an HTTP request that asks if a page has been modified. Sometimes this cache/no cache value is set, and sometimes it is not. The Firefox cache will do as the server requests it from the HTTP headers.

What is an example website this happens with, I am happy to make sure.

Thanks for giving this a try guigs2.

You asked "In tabs do you have "load tabs when selected" checked?"

Theoretically I would answer 'yes' to your question except the wording is the opposite in my FF ver 27.0.1 Options>Tabs says:

"Don't load tabs until selected" (SEE image of my tab settings below) And that is what I do have selected. (in order to prevent a massive overload of congestion upon startup as I usually have 50-60 or more tabs open continuously)

The problem seems to happen with all my websites. Everything from email (yahoo, gmail, hotmail) to weather websites, to wikipedia to various news sites, FF never delivers me the current page unless either I haven't been there for many days or I refresh the page after I've clicked on the tab.
