Whenever I open Firefox, it opens two tabs...the one I want and a "New Tab" that I have to close or switch to get back to the tab I wanted to open.
This started after an automatic update.

Hi,
Check your Firefox homepage settings. If you see something like this as the homepage:
http://example.com/ | about:tabs
then just remove everything in that box and type the address of the homepage you want.
Hope this helps!
Curtis
That didn't help. There is no about:tabs in the home page setting for Firefox. It happens if I open directly to other pages too. For instance, I have a shortcut on my desktop to my email. When I click that it opens the email and a new tab, with the new tab on top.
This just started happening. What could have changed?

This issue can be caused by the MySearchDial extension.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
