I am a new user of Firefox. I am using it on an Acer Inspire w/Windows 7 and a Dell 15" CRT monitor. When I open a page, it is too wide for the screen. I can reduce it using alt - but upon opening a new page it is again too wide. I am not very computer literate.

I doubt if a 15" CRT monitor has the resolution (without the text being too small) to display the full width of today's webpages. The minimum resolution width today should be like 768 pixels wide (will cover like 75% of the websites out there), and on CRT monitors that would equate to a 17" or 19" monitor.

Bottom line is you need a larger monitor.

Dear the-edmeister:

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I have just recently switched from Safari to Firefox. With Safari, a (perfectly good) 15"CRT worked . All pages fit the screen.

I switched because I was urged to by my brother, and because I believe in supporting small(er) organizations, especially ones with a co-operative setup.

However, unless there is a fix for my problem, I'll just go back to Safari. Having to re-size each page is not acceptable.

Kindest regards,

Sydney

What resolution does this display have?

You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.
