So when i like open another tab when i click a button, it does not overlap the screen i'm on and if i click it, nothing happens so I have to minimize and press the tab to open it and when i click the tab I am on last, it works fine but the other tab does not.

It sounds like your browser is running slowly due to a lack of memory (hence why loading a new tab appears to freeze and can be unfrozen by minimising and maximising). This also explains why you can change back to the previous tab, but not the others; the last tab you used is still in main memory while the other tabs have to get loaded into main memory when you change to them (as other data is taking up the main memory space).

I therefore suggest you try restarting Firefox (as there may have been memory leaks) and closing other applications you have open (use task manager to help if they are slow to respond). If you still experience problems, try closing using fewer tabs/windows.

If you still have the problem, then you should try reinstalling Firefox (see uninstalling and installing).

There is definitely something slowing down your system then. My previous suggestions above still apply, apart from reinstalling Firefox. If they still aren't good enough, hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete and select task manager. In there you should find the tab called processes and click it. Then you should be able to find the memory usage of each program (in Kilobytes). Click the memory column heading to order the programs so that the programs using the most memory are at the top. Look at the first few results and you should be able to identify some of the 'Image Names' with programs (such as 'firefox.exe'). This will show you which applications you should close to improve your machine's performance.

If you close all applications (except task manager) and you can still see one or more programs using a significant amount of memory (such as 100,000 K or more) then you should probably use some anti-virus software to find out if you have some sort of malware and have it removed.

If you still have issues, try ordering programs by CPU usage in task manager and see what applications are slowing your machine down.

Other than that you will have to change to some more lightweight software (see this article for examples) or perhaps buy some more RAM for your computer (if it can hold any more).

Let us know how you get on.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
