Some folders have suddenly disappeared in thunderbid on my Mac

I have suddenly lost some folders in Thunderbird on my Mac. I cannot handle going around the houses doing heavy techie stuff. Is there a simple remedy to get the folders and the emails back? I have done nothing for them to go, they just disappeared.

Found a solution now by chance. Under view on Thunderbird toolbar on a Mac there is a view section. For some stupid reason although, I have never changed these settings, when I ticked 'unified' to change from the existing "all", there were my folders. What part of ridiculous do Mozilla not understand? All is all so why, are all the folders not under "all" ?
