Why are all inbox emails going into address book?
I had another machine that I was using Thunderbird on and it crashed so I had to get a new one. I didn't have this problem on that machine (XP), but it started after I installed it on THIS (Windows 7) computer. Here's the problem: In Address Book, every single email I receive is AUTOMATICALLY adding its email address to my Address Book, both "Personal" and "Collected," which I don't know why I have two. How do I STOP this from happening? It's getting so frustrating that I will have to stop using Thunderbird if I can't fix it.

Thunderbird has two default address book. The personal and collected. The personal is where you add your contacts to. The collected picks up the addresses that you send mail too.
By default no addresses are added from incoming mail. You can go into options and turn off the collection of outbound mail.
Thanks for your reply. That is the way it is SUPPOSED to be, but as I described above, that's not what is happening. People I'm SENDING emails to are NOT in there, and so far there are SIXTY addresses from companies sending ME emails...in BOTH address books. I wish there was a phone # for Thunderbird help because it's frustrating me to death!
There are add on that will collect address from incoming mail and add them to your address books.. Have you installed any add ons?
You normally wouldn't find addresses from incoming mail added to Personal Address Book unless you had set TB to allow remote content from all senders. Did you make that change?
Airmail, you seem to have found the answer. I didn't even realize I had an add-on, but I DID!! I removed it, and NO MORE ADDRESSES! You're a BLESSING! Thank you!
