Thunderbird prompts to create new profile on every launch

A user of ours is running Thunderbird (31.2.0) and is a local admin of his Windows 7 machine. I setup the thunderbird profile, works fine for two days, then when opening, it prompts to do first run setup. This is consistent. I have checked for scheduled tasks, event log items or anything else the matches up with this, and can find nothing that should be affecting it.

Wondering if someone has any suggestions, and what additional info is required to narrow this down.

Thanks!

Jesse

just a suggestion before going to far.

Windows 7 and latter will silently role back to a known good boot and at times in the process wipe existing data. So I suggest you open the profile folder (Help menu troubleshooting information and click the show folder button) in explorer and create a text file in there, just a marker really and see if when the request comes again if the file is still there.

From the start menu type %appdata%/Thunderbird make a copy of the profiles.ini file. When the request comes, repeat and compare the contents of the two files. Any differences?
