Thunderbird has no association with PNG type pictures, so they will not open and cannot send that type of picture. Went to options/attachments/incoming and PNG is not listed and I cannot find any way to add it. Help, please!

That list is best managed by only ever deleting stuff, fixing things there can be problematic.

When you click an unknown attachment type a dialog opens asking what program and offering to save that setting. That list is the destination of that save.

If there is no program in the list selecting paint for PNG files will work.
