I reset firefox, unchecked the box in tools/advanced for hardware. Nothing fixes this problem. Had to start using explorer as the condition has become intolerable. Please advise.

Hello there,

Do you currently run the latest version of Firefox? If not, you can follow these easy steps : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version

Let me know how you get on and hopefully that fixes the freezing issues.

I did that yesterday, and went into tools, advanced and unchecked accelerated hardware box again, as it was checked after update. Still freezes until I move the mouse.

Someone else had a similar problem. Turns out it was Mal-ware.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
