Hello All:

I am experiencing a problem with firefox. Ever since the new version was downloaded and installed, every site that I go to I am told that it is an untrusted connection. I add it as an exception, however, when I attempt to go to the site again, I am told once again that the site is untrusted. Mind you, that previously before the upgrade, I could go go these sites without a problem and I never saw the untrusted connection message. In addition, when I an the exception and go to the site, it starts up in text mode and not html, would someone please tell me how to fix this problem, the majority of the sites that I go to, I have gone to before without any problems and they all appear in html and do not start out in text mode. Thanks, Allen

It is only secure sites (https) where you would be told the connection is untrusted. So now untrusted sites are in text mode? I thought they would simply be blocked.

This Connection is Untrusted is sometimes caused because the computer system clock is wrong. Check the time / date / time zone settings.

It involves all gmail connected sites. Looks as if FF are about to launch a mail service too ?

I would doubt that Mozilla would do that. Many of us would remove Firefox.

Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details" to expand this section. If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.

You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.

  • Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"

Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".

  • Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.

You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.

If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".

  • Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
  • Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.

Hi Cor-el Tried it. Nothing works. Most of the sites with an https prefix are not loading. "I understand the risk" : following your guidance, doesn't do much either. I tried to download a previous version of FF 34, it worked well for a couple of days but unfortunately it upgraded automatically - I can't find the link to that version again.
