Firefox was slow to open, so after a while I clicked the icon a second time. Then two copies opened, the one having this Mozilla solution page and the other with all of the many tabs that I use frequently. But when I tried to close the Mozilla solution copy I was warned that both copies would be closed, which I know from experience can sometimes cause me to lose all of the tabs on my main copy. So how can I safely close the one copy without losing the tabs of the other? Thank you. Dave

Hit Alt to show the Menu Bar, then hit F to open the File menu, then use the Close Window menu item. Or use the X in the upper-right corner of that window.

Firefox should save all open windows if you close the browser via "File > Exit" or the power button in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list (Navigation Toolbar).

If you close each window individual then only the last closed window will be restored, the other windows might still be present under "History > Recently Closed Windows".

It sounds like you just opened up a second window and not a second instance of Firefox. You cannot have two instances running on same Profile as a second instance is started with its own Profile and -no-remote
