I restarted the computer, Firefox starts but does not load any pages except in Safe mode. It does not respond to the "three horizontal bars" icon at the upper left. I can make the File Edit .. menu appear and the pull down menus appear there, but it wil not load any pages. In safe mode it behaves as normally as safe mode allows. I scanned for malware with malwarebytes anit malware, nothing. I downloaded FF installer, then removed Firefox using the control panel applet, reinstalled. No joy. Help please.

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

My problem was the add-on Auto Unload Tab 0.8.9 When I rebooted something updated and the bug caused my browser to be unresponsive, but it worked fine in Safe Mode. So I reset Firefox but it took a couple of restarts for it to behave. I started adding back add-ons, and when I restarted after adding Auto Unload Tab, the symptoms returned. I removed it and the symptoms went away. I'm convinced. This is a REALLY NICE add-on, in stopping crashing from run-away memory use in earlier versions of Firefox, but if the brower doesn't work, I can't use it. Fixed.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

That was very good work. Well Done.

Contact support for that add-on and let them know.
