Hello I need to setup an IMAP account manually in Thunderbird 38 on Windows.

I clicked Add New Email Account, fill in the options then it fails to find settings (as this is my own IMAP server) and click Manual config but then when I fill in the IMAP details Done and Advanced Config buttons are greyed out, and Re-test times out.

- Note: I am not adding an SMTP server as I do not need to test SMTP at the moment.

Could anyone help me add my custom IMAP details so I can test with Thunderbird? I don't want to Abandon Thunderbird as it's really good but this is a bit annoying, and I will have to use another imap client for now until I find the answer.

Check via webmail account that the type IMAP forwarding is selected as you need to use the type that is selected.

File > New > Existing Mail account or Menu icon > New Messages >Existing Mail account Or via Account Settings click on 'Account Actions' select 'Add mail account'

Enter name Enter full email address Enter password (the same one you used to access webmail) click on 'Continue' TB will try to get settings. when it says it cannot locate configuration settings. Click on 'Manual config' Make sure you have selected the correct type of account - IMAP. Add all the details for incoming and outgoing.

You can change, update etc SMTP at any point later, but when creating add all info to get the account up and running. You would need SMTP anyway in order to test that it works.

Please confirm that when you add all the required information, the buttons appear as enabled.
