Read my details. I have already tried the repair folder option to no avail. I get messages re-appearing in my inbox daily.
NOTE: I HAVE ALREADY TRIED THE REPAIR FOLDER OPTION. For a year or so now, I have been receiving duplicate emails that were previous emails from my inbox. I use msn.com hotmail into thunderbird. Sometimes an email will be received that I just deleted/moved, other times emails will appear that were deleted/moved months ago. Most often the duplicate received emails were ones that were deleted, but some times they were emails that were placed into one of my folders. I have been using thunderbird for several years after using outlook express previously. However this problem did not appear until the last year or so. I have some 15 years of emails stored and collected for record keeping etc since the beginning. For the folders that got too big, I do have achives set up as well.

Microsoft appear unable to operate a stable POP mail account. Everyone using their pop mail has troubles with duplicate messages.
Possible work arounds.
- Change the option on their web site to move deleted messages to the POP folder and just let Thunderbird delete them
- Change the frequency of message received to a much long time fram so the server at MSB can catch up. say half an hour or so.
- Change Thunderbird setting to leave messages on the server ( a mess waiting to happen reall worse than the problem it is supposed to fix.)
Using the remove duplicates add-on helps manage Microsoft's failure. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/remove-duplicate-messages/?src=search
Note we all started having the issue about the time they coerced all the new Windows 10 folk to use Microsoft accounts that synchronize all sorts of stuff the the Outlook.com/ Hotmail servers. Funny how increased laod and failure are so closely linked. Not that anyone over there is prepared to even consider their service is poor.
