Thunderbird is not default email client after update 45.0 (Windows 10)
Thunderbird is not default email client after update 45.0.
In Thunderbird, I have checked under tools->options->advanced->General that it is set a default - it is
In Windows, Under Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs I have checked that Thunderbird is set at the default email client- it is. One odd thing is i notice Thunderbird is missing the usual blue/white icon.
If I look under Add/Remove programs I see the previous version is still showing as it has the icon while the latest doe not have the icon. Has the update not registered itself correctly?

The easy solution: Uninstall Thunderbird and re-install.
Before starting, I made sure I had backup of my profile folder, taken a note of all settings and made a copy of profle.ini.
I re-installed. T'bird used the existing profile.ini so I was back up and working with no problems and minimal effort.
I need not have=bothered with all the backup but, well, it can't do any harm.Funda le mpendulo ngokuhambisana nalesi sihloko 👍 0

Thx Christ1 but as I mentioned in the OP, I had already checked that.
Perhaps I should add that this was working until the 45.0 update today.
Hello. If you want set Thunderbird default email client, do all, of the above. 1. Open Start - Settings 2. Open tab "Deafult Apps" 3. Change default email app to Thunderbird. If you can't change this. Reinstall Windows. (Realy, I haved this bag too, and i reinstall windows and it worked)
Thx InfinityTime - as stated in the OP I had already checked that Thunderbird was the default.
I really, really, really don't want to have to reinstall Windows. I hope it doesn't came to that!
I think I'd try re-installing Thunderbird first.
I Just updated my Win & machine with Thunderbird 45.0.
Now I have the same problem there. This has to be a bug.
