tab bar shifts too much on a double click
Win7pro, FF 46.0.1
I use lots of tabs, more than will fit on the screen. If I click once on a tab bar shift arrow, the tab bar will correctly shift/scroll left or right by one tab. If I double-click on a tab bar shift arrow, the tab bar will shift/scroll by more than a screen width, so I find myself shifting back a couple of tabs to see what zoomed by. Is there a setting I can change that will reduce the amount of shift?

Firefox should shift the tabs one window width if you double-click the Tab bar scroll button. A triple-click will move the the first or last tab.
See also these pref on the about:config page for scrolling with the mouse wheel:
- toolkit.scrollbox.scrollIncrement
- toolkit.scrollbox.smoothScroll
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
Thanks for pointing out that the scroll wheel can shift the tabs right & left. This may become my preferred method.
As to the double-click, is it possible that the issue does not manifest on every screen size? For instance, my screen is 1920x1200 and when maximized FF will fit 18 tabs with maybe 1/4 tab extra on each side. A double-click will shift it 19 tabs so one tab is never seen. It is shifting one extra tab (rounding issue?), when ideally it should shift only 17 tabs to provide visual continuity.
