After Firefox tried to perform automatic install of ESR 52.2, Firefox repeatedly crashes on startup. I tried manually installing ESR 52.2, but that did not resolve the issue. Issue still happens in safe mode.

Firefox crashes on startup, provides dialog to launch in safe mode, crashes and provides crash report dialog.

hi, thanks for providing a crash id. unfortunately this crash is caused by the websense/forcepoint security software that is running on your device. i presume that's in a corporate environment - please get in contact with your it department to make sure that websense is fully up to date, as it has the tendency to crash newly released firefox versions until they adapt accordingly.

if you're not dependant on using the ESR version of firefox and could update to the current 54.0, this could help as well as we've implemented stricter measures of prohibiting crashing 3rd-party software that's hooking into firefox in the meantime: https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2017/01/24/preventing-add-ons-third-party-software-from-loading-dlls-into-firefox/

Funda le mpendulo ngokuhambisana nalesi sihloko 👍 2
