Thunderbird does not import first and last names from my CVS file, instead replaces them with the first part of the email address in a column called "name".

I created a CVS file from my windows live email contacts. In Thunderbird, I matched up the field names by moving them up and down as needed to line them up, and checked and unchecked the options I wanted and didn't want. After going through the steps, I go to that folder and find all the email addresses and the organization columns set up correctly, but for some reason Thunderbird is not able to recognize first and last names, and doesn't include them. It creates a new column it calls simply "name", and populates it with either the organization name if any, or the first part of each email address before the @ if that line is empty in the organization column. How can I get it to import first and last names?

My procedure is: Tools/Import Address Book/Text file (LDIF, tab, csv, txt) I select the file, check the columns I want to import, uncheck the rest, and line up the pertinent data fields. The message is, "addresses successfully imported from text file (LDIF...) Finish

Thunderbird creates a folder with the same name as mine and opens it, but the folder contents do not show up. I click on a different folder and then back on the imported one, and what shows up is the fields I described, no first or last name. I have attached a copy. What am I missing? Any help is very appreciated.
