I am using Firefox on an Honor 8 running Android 7.0 and Firefox 57.0. Websites load very slowly, often so slowly that they may as well not be loading at all. Switching between mobiel data and WiFi makes no difference. Additionally, the page refresh often fails to work, not doing anything at all (i.e. the loading bar doesn't reset or appear if I manually forced the loading to stop), the only way to do so being to tap the address bar and hit enter.

You're pushing your 7.0 a little too far, first thing kill some of the background noise the apps that are running in the background, be sure to delete your history and your cookies as often as possible, deleting your cache partition would probably do the job but you have to contact me personally for that kind of information.

I am almost certain that's not the issue, how can I check how much resources background-apps are using, just to confirm?

Instead of connect to your modem with a Wi-Fi address try using your Mac address that will speed up your modem and make things a lot easier. Try maybe deleting your catch partition, if that doesn't work I uninstall the program and reinstall
