Hello, I would like to add new search engine to the search bar (as I used to do with "Add to Search Bar" a very useful but now not compatible with Quantum). I know there is a page (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-or-remove-search-engine-firefox#w_add-a-search-engine) where everything is (supposed to be) explained but the fact is it does not provide any solution for me. For instance, I want to add as a new search engine "amazon.fr" to my search bar. In order to do that, if I follow the support page, I would have to go on the amazon.fr site and then go to the search bar and click on the green button to add it. But if I do that, instead of getting amazon.fr in my search bar list, I will have another amazon.com. The problem is the same if I want to add google.ca or google.fr, etc. Actually, it is even worse in these cases because the search bar does not even recognize them as search engine (different from google.com). So am I stuck with google.com and amazon.com? Here is the question: how can I add my preferred search engine to firefox search bar? Any help welcome! Thank you!

Go to this site => http://mycroftproject.com/amazon-search-plugins.html and click Amazon FR.

Thank you TyDraniu. Your suggestion helps but, unfortunately, does not solve the problem. It works for Amazon but fails for other sites. Few examples: scholar.google.fr (not in the list); google.com (findable but won't "forced google.com" so it stay on the "local google site"), etc. Plus, it is way more complicated than just "add a new engine" whenever and wherever you want, as we could before the new version of Mozilla firefox.

In summary, for the moment, the search bar is no longer operational as it was.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately it is not possible at this time. You can keep a eye to here : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/ As well you can submit suggestions for new or changed features, may I suggest: https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/ or https://discourse.mozilla.org/c/add-ons

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thank you Pkshadow. I am going to submit suggestions (even if I don't believe it would have any significant impact). However, I don't consider this issue/topic as solved as my problems aren't, so I leave open. By chance, maybe someone will stop by and suggest a solution.

As to your search Toolbar - I say this that's a Big Security Hole your giving to malware to get right to your computer to compromise it. I never use toolbars for the specific reason they don't give nor provide your system protections. If you want to use google or Amazon search your best option is to create a Bookmark to those search page and save it and use that to avoid security lapse to provide better protection. So until Amazon provides a Addon for FF the safe usage is to login into Amazon to insure your on the legit site to do your searches and purchase to provide your financial information.
