Firefox uses a unified address bar for entering website URLs as well as searching on search engines. It sounds like you want to stop search suggestions from appearing in the drop-down that appears when typing in the address bar. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Firefox preferences or type about:config in the address bar
  2. Select Search from the sidebar
  3. Uncheck the Provide search suggestions option

If you would also like the stop your bookmarks, history and open tabs from appearing in the Firefox address bar, you can find options to disable those from the Address Bar section on the Privacy & Security page.

Hope this helps.
