In FF 60.6.0 ESR - How do I make it so that when a user opens firefox for the first time they get a default profile that I have configured.
In the previous versions I could have a default profile configured and when a user launched FF for the first time it would copy that default profile to the users profile. This allowed me to set a variety of corporate configuration defaults.
We currently run Windows 7 (moving to 10 soon) Trying to get 60.6.0 ESR to work.

Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).
Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

Are you setting up the new user, or do they do it themselves?
One way would be to set up your default profile, then link it to the sync servers. When a new user creates a new profile, sync that profile before doing anything else. Once the data is loaded on the new profile, remove the sync link.
If you want to change the data, just change it. It will replace the data on the sync server. But any already created 'copies' would have to be done as well.

Sync your passwords, history, tabs and other browsing information across your iOS, Android and desktop computers with Firefox Accounts.
Note: With sync, there is no master. The data goes both ways. That is why I said above: sync that profile before doing anything else.
As to the data choices (bookmarks, settings . . . . ) it's an all or nothing choice.
Thanks for the reply.
What if I don’t want to use sync? I have many users which don’t currently have accounts so there will be an issue getting those all created.
Also when users leave the company I don’t necessarily want them to be able to retain all the info that is stored.
You posted under regular Firefox instead of Enterprise, so I flagged this thread to be moved. Hopefully those folks will have a solution for you.
By the way, when you mention a previous version, was it in the Firefox 60 ESR series, or do you mean Firefox 52 ESR?
Ok thanks for flagging to move.
Previous version was 52 ESR

What specifically do you want to preconfigure?
