Since I updated to Firefox 67.0.1 I was not able to access any content via online banking. After logging in I could only see a blank screen. I contacted the bank and they told me that they no longer offer on-line banking for Firefox users as they had identified a security threat with the saved usernames and passwords. They will only support Google Chrome. I wasn't best pleased as I really don't want to install or use google chrome. Bank in question is Weatherby's bank at https://odbx.weatherbysbank.com/digital/#/login Any suggestions welcome!

It would be nice if they consulted us about this "security threat". After all, there's quite a big reward for informing about security bugs.

In that case I'd suggest you to use the UserAgent Switcher addon. Choose chrome and try to enter this website, it should let you in.

I just tried using Firefox v54 and 67.1 The log-in page loaded no problem.

Hmm, if they don't trust logins, they probably shouldn't have let you log in... It doesn't sound like the best thought out excuse.

In case the blank page is caused by a setting or add-on issue, could you try:

New Profile Test

This takes about 3 minutes, plus the time to test your problem site.

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

Click the "Create a New Profile" button, then click Next. Assign a name like June2019, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.

After creating the profile, scroll down to it and click the Launch profile in new browser button.

Firefox should open a new window that looks like a brand new, uncustomized installation. (Your existing Firefox window(s) should not be affected.) Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system so we can get a clean test.

Does the problem site work any better in the new profile?

When you are done with the experiment, you can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile. (June2019 will remain available for future testing.)

OK a quick update, with Weatherbys they no longer allow a login using Firefox, as on the next screen user will see a blank browser page. I also experienced that HSBC internet banking also was glitchy using new version. I just got off the phone to HSBC Internet banking tech support and they too are withdrawing support / no longer recommending Firefox as their security will fail / auto log out a user. They guy on the phone said they only way to pass security using firefox was to delete all browsing history and clear cache. I defo want a browser that I can keep my browsing history. Interestingly they also said HSBC are having similar issues with Safari and therefore are only recommending Chrome and IE as supported broswers.

Error code for HSBC is as below: Your Session has been terminated as another logon has been made.(mlogon1).

If you haven't just logged on again, please contact the helpdesk urgently on UK : 0345 602 2014 or overseas : 44 (0) 1792 496 941.

Similar problem with Royal Bank Canada. Everything works fine except page where I go to manage security alerts about my account (i.e. large withdrawals, etc.). Clicking on link, the site signs me out saying I've timed out. Bank confirmed approved browsers include Chrome, Safari that work fine. Tried using UA & adding new profile. Looked promising at first but clicking on that bank link just signs me out now with no mention of timeout.

Hi Glenn, if you tested in a new profile with basic Firefox default settings and no add-ons, then I think the "time out" would not be due to cache or cookie problems.

Did the page work in earlier versions of Firefox and just stop working recently?

Thank you for your response. I was using my general profile and started having problems I suppose when the new version of Firefox came out. Up until then, it seem to be working fine.

I just started investigating a little deeper when the bank told me it seemed to be a Firefox problem. That’s when my investigation led me to installing a basic profile with the UserAgent add-on. Running it this way, I did not get a timeout error but was simply logged out of the bank website.
