Suddenly Thunderbird can't access my principal email account. It tells me to enter a new password - when I enter the correct one, it fails to connect. I know the password is correct, because it gets me into my email account in Chrome. When I check Saved Passwords, the other two accounts are there, but not the main one.

When I try to get my mail I get >>Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: Username and password not accepted.<< This is followed by a panel which includes >>Enter new password<< - but entering the correct password there doesn't get me in.

Can someone please advise me on what to do next.

Win 10 64-bit computer - nothing knowingly changed since yesterday!

Same problem with MacBook/ Thunderbird, but ....

This morning the MB/TB with an GMail accout reacted as described by the OP. (And all other accounts could be accessed without any problem!) Also after completely deleting the TB/accout PW and the Google 2FA entries in TB/PW Manager it was not possible to setup the PW again. Also the PW was known to be valid! It's used on an Android Mail and an iPad/Mail connect to that same GMail account. The access there was possible without trouble.

Two hours after the described attempt to access the GMail account via the Macbook/TB, another attempt was made to access the account on the Macbook/TB ... and it was possible without problems. Nothing was changed in the meantime, AND the PWs were still deleted in TB/PWMgnr!

That means the Macbook/TB setup for the GMAIL account works WITHOUT PWs? What's that all about?

Curiouser and curiouser.

Like gNeandr, I now have a working email account on T'bird again. I too did nothing. Actually, not quite true - I went and had lunch, and then a nap, leaving my PC running. Prompted by getting gNeandr's email on my iPad, I went back to the PC tp find a string of e-mails had arrived on it, and the account working normally again. So it seems to me we have a new problem - what the asterisk is going on?

I too am on T'bird 68.7.0, in my case 32-bit.

And looping back! Today the GMail account can't be used ... same dialog again to ask the PW with the TB account setup. But as before .. on the iPad the GMail account in question works without any problems, as it also woks on the other Android phone.

Any one out there to help?
