Everytime I go into settings and change my default search to yahoo, no matter what I do, my search goes to Yahoo. Even if i go to google.com and then search, the yahoo page comes up. Its come to the point im considering uninstalling firefox to use chrome exclusively which is something I certainly dont want to do after having been a loyal user for over a decade.

Thanks for any help.

You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
