Thunderbird suddenly doesn't fetch new mail.
Hello. I've been using Thunderbird for email forever. I have four email accounts set up.
Suddenly today, AUG/26/2021, I noticed that when I start Thunderbird it does not automatically fetch new mail (yes, I have the checkboxs checked in preferences for each account) and no matter what I do it opens to the Trash folder instead of the Inbox folder even though the Inbox is set to "favorite" (I think it's supposed to open to the folder it was last showing when closed).
This all seem to happen today. I haven't done anything with the configuration. It seems that maybe it started when I actually was in the Trash folder one time when I closed Thunderbird.
How can I get back to opening to Inbox and have it automatically check mail when it starts?
Thanks, Barry.

session.json is in the Profile folder, not the install folder. You could also read through the more detailed response to question 'Thunderbird will not open on folder it was closed on'

Hi Read the answer to the question 'Thunderbird opens and points to the Trash folder instead of inbox'. Sounds like the same issue you have with both starting in trash and not fetching new email. Report if that works please!
Thanks for your reply. But, this did not solve the problem.
My Thunderbird suddenly no longer starts in the inbox folder (it points to trash) and it no longer fetches mail upon opening. Help-About says I'm running 78.13.0 (32-bit) and I'm up-to-date.
There is no file named session.json in that folder. The only file in all of the Mozilla install directories is: update-config.json dated December 2019.
Barry.

Yes, Thanks.
Clicking on the button "Open Folder" shown within Help-Troubleshooting Information for the "Profile Folder" shows session.json. I deleted this file and Thunderbird now works as expected opening to the Inbox and fetching mail upon opening.
I was clicking on the wrong "Open Folder" button, for the "Update Folder".
Thanks, Barry.
